Vision

The Center is building a caring and serving community by helping people learn, secure, and sustain a better way of living through gainful employment. The people we serve become healthier, happier, and more productive individuals working to change their future.

Mission

Life Learning Center delivers a holistic, integrated continuum of education and care to help our 'at-risk' citizens step up to their highest potential.

Philosophy

Life Learning Center believes that permanent self-sufficiency begins with a transformational change that permits long-term success.

Many socially oriented service programs, if not most, provide only temporary support or relief for those in poverty. The goal of Life Learning Center is to provide Candidates with the necessary tools and support that will allow them to not only find a job, but sustain a living-wage career. The Center focuses on overcoming barriers in ALL five domains of life: emotional, financial, physical, spiritual, and relational.

Core Values

I'M AN ORIGINAL CATCHPHRASE

Change: Occurs through intellectual intent and commitment to learning with continuity.

Sustainability: LLC provides job placement opportunities and skills for success – for long term job retention.

Dignity: Personal growth, financial savings, and value formation.

Contribution: Giving back is the ultimate outcome (i.e. volunteer).

Programs

Life Learning Center delivers The Foundations for a Better Life™ 12-week program that focuses on addressing five domains of life: physical, financial, spiritual, emotional, and relational. These on-going barriers often derive from the addiction epidemic, increased incarceration, and childhood poverty rates rising in our local tri-state area. These factors directly hinder an individual’s ability to generate an income for their family, leaving citizens “at-risk” hopeless and unemployable.

Our History

2005-2010

Investing in Vision to Shape the Future

In 2005, several established and passionate leaders in the tristate area began collaborating on the “missing link” in the social services and non-profit arena. They recognized that many reputable organizations were contributing their niched service to one problem area. However, no organization focused on the “root cause” of poverty: the lack of financial resources due to the cycle of undereducated and underemployed individuals in the community. After comprehensive research on best practices and services both locally and nationally for at-risk populations, the vision for LLC was born.

2010-2020

Working Towards Greater Impact

In 2010, the Foundations for a Better Life™ Curriculum was developed, and the first class was launched. With the continuing success and support, the program was patented in 2012. In 2013, LLC had 50 Candidates enrolled in the 12-week program. As the numbers started to grow, as did the need to expand facility space and resources. In 2014, LLC moved from a modest 5,000 square feet facility to nearly 60,000 square feet.

Space now includes two fully furnished floors, including a cafeteria, gym, six classrooms, and office space for our residential partners. Due to our expansion of space and community resources, LLC can now serve more Candidates who are willing to enroll in our program.

2020…

Despite LLC’s Accomplishments, there is more to do…much more.

We continue to adjust to the needs of our community. In 2020, we established the Multidisciplinary Reentry Team (MRRT), an organization-driven recovery team providing treatment interventions and care resources in association with the judicial process, minimizing convictions to reduce recidivism while promoting long term recovery.
